Qt based Slacker Radio app coming to Symbian

Nokia N8

Great news for music loving Nokia owners in the US and Canada emerged yesterday at CES.

Slacker, Inc, announced yesterday that their much loved Slacker Radio web radio service is coming to new Symbian devices like the Nokia N8 via a free, Qt-based application.

Slacker is a hugely popular service that has a music catalogue over four times the size of their leading competitor. Their new application will allow Symbian users in the US and Canada to create and listen to their own perfectly customised radio stations on their Symbian device.

Some vital stats on Slacker Radio for Symbian:
• Music library featuring millions of songs
• High-quality stereo playback from any available wireless connection
• Users can create custom artist stations based on artists or songs
• Over 130 professionally programmed and customizable genre stations
• Artist biographies and photos
• Album art and reviews
• Song rating function (rate songs as favourites)
• Ban feature – ban songs and artists from your stations

The application will be a free download via Nokia Ovi store, and it's scheduled to arrive in February 2011 for new Symbian devices such as the Nokia N8.

The application is going to literally rock US and Canadian Nokia owners' worlds, and it is a source of pride for us that getting this killer app to Symbian has happened, and was made possible by Qt.
